NY POP ART
UT has partnered with pop art pioneers Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat for many years. Legendary artists born in New York have left a variety of works to the world so that people can enjoy art more easily. Meet pop art that has transcended the ages and is loved at UT.
Jean-Michel Basquiat
An artist who was an icon in New York in the 1980s. Despite his short period of activity, he became famous for his works inspired by street art, which began when he was a teenager, and many unique images related to works in art history. In Basquiat's paintings, drawings, and prints, you can find materials ranging from African culture, Aztec culture, and Greek culture to American cultural elements such as jazz, baseball, and social and political events.
